The Sports Technology programme aims to provide students with a broad curriculum focused around sport, design, technology and innovation. In addition to the engineering content, students study modules in the School of Sport and Exercise Science, Business School, Mathematical Sciences, Institute of Polymer Technology and Materials Engineering. Students are equipped with a wide range of technical and transferrable skills from which they are able to develop their own particular strengths and interests.
The course, which was established in response to the needs of the Sports Equipment Industry, also involves industrial case studies given by leading Sports Technologists working in the Industry.
The majority of our students have a keen interest and enthusiasm for both sport and product design. A substantial proportion of our graduates progress to careers as designers, technologists and R&D specialists within the sector.
