About Us

Loughborough Students Womens Hockey Club are the biggest and one of the most successful student clubs in the country, having won the BUCS Championship title for 11 years consecutively and most recently in the 2008 season. The club also has an excellent reputation for producing many international players, ex students such as Mary Nevill (GB & England), Jennie Bimson (GB & England), Fiona Greenham (GB & England), Kerry Williams (GB & England), Hannah Macleod (GB & England), Katie Long (GB & England), Beckie Herbert (GB & England) and Nicola White (GB & England). Current players/students. Laura Unsworth, England & GB Olympic Hockey team 2012, player and returning student for 2012-13 after stretching her degree to train full time with GB. Nicola White (College) England & GB Olympic Hockey team 2012, used to be a player but a returning student for 2012-13 after stretching her degree to train full time with GB. Maddie Hinch England & GB Hockey squad, used to be a player and returning student for 2012-13 after stretching her degree to train full time. Giselle Ansley England U21, Suzy Petty England U21, Holly Brown England U21, Kate Maxey England U21, Katie Shanahan England U21, Maddie Tait England U21, Sarah Jones Wales Seniors, Phoebe Richards Wales Seniors, Rachel Malcolm Scotland U21, Robyn Collins Scotland U21.

The club currently run 5 women’s teams and compete in the following competitions:

 1st XI – National League Conference North, BUCS Premier league and Midlands Indoor.
 2nd XI – Midlands Premier League, BUCS Trophy.
3rd XI – Leicestershire Premier Division, BUCS Trophy.
 4th XI – Leicestershire Premier Division, BUCS. 5th XI – Leicestershire Premier Division. All teams train twice a week at various times at our  Waterbased Hockey pitch, and each session will be led by one of our coaches or by a senior player within the club. At the start of every season returning students, and selected new students, will be invited to pre season training, while all first year students will be invited to trials in the first few weeks of term to decide the squads for the season. Any players who do not get into one of our 5 teams will be able to join the development squad and/or join one of the local clubs, with whom we have excellent relationships. Several sport science support services are available, including physiotherapy and massage, with priority being given to 1st XI members.

The club have an amazing record in BUCS competitions with the 1st XI having won BUSA for 12 out of the last 15 seasons, most recently in 2008.
