PARTICIPATION PROGRAMME

There is something for everyone at Loughborough Sport Tennis whatever your motivation and level of play. Below are the regular weekly sessions available to 2017/18 students. If you are unsure which session is suitable for you, please speak to a member of our team or pick up our tennis calendar from reception.

Transition Tennis

A group tennis lesson to help players transition from starting out and learning the basics to putting the strokes into the various game situations. It’s a fun way to improve your tennis by taking group instruction from our qualified coaches, mix in with players of a similar standard and take part in some friendly competition
Tuesday 5.30 to 7.00pm – £2 per session

Advance your tennis

Advance your tennis and sharpen your skills. Training focuses on various tactical themes each week. You will improve your level with sessions run by our coaches, whilst training and competing with similar level players in a game based environment.
Tuesday 9.00 to 10.30pm – £2 per session

Social tennis

Social tennis is a simple way to enjoy a game of tennis within a fun and sociable environment. We provide the courts, balls and rackets. The sessions are organised by one of our student coaches and players are mixed in to ensure as much game time as possible. There is no need to book for these sessions, simply turn up and play!
Thursday 19.30pm to 21.00pm – £2 per session

My Activities Cardio Tennis

A fun, high energy fitness session that combines the best features of the sport of tennis with cardiovascular exercise, delivering the ultimate full body, calorie burning aerobic workout. Most women can burn 300 to 500 calories per hour and men between 500 to 1,000. Suitable for all standards and wheelchair tennis players.(Rackets and balls provided)

My Lifestyles Beginner Tennis

A beginner adult introductory coaching session for players who want to learn the basics of the sport. Enjoy learning new skills and develop your game with similar standard players. Suitable for wheelchair tennis players.(Rackets and balls provided)
Tuesday 19.00 to 20.30pm – Free to all
Thursday 18.00 to 19.30pm – Free to all

My Learn to tennis

A beginner adult introductory coaching course for players who want to learn the basics of the sport using modified equipment. Designed over 8 weeks and structured so that you learn one aspect of the game at a time; being able to serve, rally and score by the end of the course.(Rackets and balls provided)
£10 refundable deposit to secure your place on the course
Monday 18.00 to 19.30pm

My Progress to tennis

Progress to is the natural progression from the Learn to programme. This course follows the same structure as Learn to, whilst developing the next level of tennis skills. This 8 week programme will start to develop the tactics of tennis, whilst honing the techniques learnt previously in the Learn to course. By the end of the course you should be able to rally, serve and score competently with a full ball.
Only available to those who have completed ‘My Learn to Tennis’ previously.(Rackets and balls provided)

Tennis Social Leagues

Tennis Social leagues is a completely free sporting programme that’s open to all students; whether you’re studying for a PhD, MSc, BSc or BA, you can take part in any of our free weekly leagues. Join by yourself or with a group of friends.
