Tennis Programme Director: Helen Reesby

Helen joined the Tennis Centre in June 2015, and alongside a BSc in Applied Sports Science, she is also an LTA Master Performance Coach and has a LTA Certificate in Tutoring and Assessing. Helen is a former professional tennis player, and following this worked with the LTA as the National Girls Junior Coach and Age Group Captain. From her involvement in the world of tennis she had a wealth of knowledge, and is currently working to drive forward the Loughborough Sport Tennis Project as well developing the tennis centre as a whole. She is also keen to provide and promote experiences of tennis for people at all levels so that it can be a positive and life-shaping sporting experience.

Assistant Manager: Mark Dabney

Mark has been at the Tennis Centre for 3 years, and graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc in Economics and Politics. Mark has been working at the University for 6 years in various facility operation roles, and is passionate about driving and developing  Loughborough Sport Tennis Centre into a world leading facility which develops the tennis workforce of the future.

Performance Coach: Tom Kisiel

Tom has worked at the Tennis Centre in various roles for 5 years. He is a Level 4 qualified LTA Senior performance coach who has vast experience in coaching performance players at National and International level. He has worked as part of the coaching teams at LTA IHPC and HPC’s previously, within that he also brings experience of University coaching to the role. Tom is keen to develop the “one club feel” and enhance the student tennis experience for all, whilst achieving and maintaining the goal of Loughborough Performance Tennis being recognised as the leading performance tennis programme in the U.K.

Tennis Coach Development Manager: David Boddy

David has had a career  within the sports industry for nearly 25 years; having previously worked in a Local Authority as a Sports Development Officer, then the LTA as a County Development Officer and subsequently Racquets Manager for Virgin Active. He is a level 4 qualified LTA Senior club coach, LTA Tutor and Assessor. As Tennis Coach Development Manager his role is to lead a group of student coaches; coordinating and mentoring the team to support the promotion and delivery of the coaching programme along with managing, leading and growing the participation across Loughborough University student/staff and the local community

Tennis Strands Coordinator: Julie Blackwood

Julie gained a BSc in Geography and Sport Science and a MSc in Psychology of Sport and Exercise from Loughborough University. During her time as a student, Julie was a Sport Secretary for her Hall of Residence and enjoyed competing for the university tennis team. Julie continues to play for and captain her county team. As Tennis Strands Coordinator, Julie looks after the Sport Science and Marketing and Communications volunteering strands of the tennis project. This involves supporting aspiring students to develop their personal and professional skills and gain valuable insights into the tennis industry through co-ordinating relevant opportunities and experiences in these areas. Alongside this part time role, Julie works as a sport psychologist in private practice. Julie also holds a Research Associate position at the university, investigating Effective coaching and coach development in British Tennis, and is currently completing her Level 3 tennis coaching qualification.

Coach Academy Co-ordinator: Karen Whitaker

Karen has been in her current role for 3 years and studied a BSc in Leisure Management with Sports Development. Karen has worked for Loughborough Sport for the last ten years in a wide variety of roles, and is currently coordinating the coaching and officiating strands within the CVA; this involves recruiting, developing, mentoring and deploying students with the aim of developing personal and professional skills through sport. .

Assistant Tennis Coordinator: Tom Haslam

Tom began his role in July 2015 after graduating with a BA (Hons) Degree in English and Sports Science. Tom was the Athletic Union Tennis Club Chair, in addition to competing for Loughborough 1st team and his county of Yorkshire during his undergraduate degree.  Tom is a level 2 tennis coach and is currently undertaking his level 3 tennis coaching qualification.  Tom coordinates the schools and mini tennis programme, leads the Loughborough Sport tennis website and media content, as well as supporting our performance coach with the university team programme.

Senior Customer Service Assistant: Muhammad  Hasan

Muhammad has been in his current role for 12 months, and graduated with a BA in Psychology and Sociology. He previously worked as a Quality Coach at the National Careers Service, but is now enjoys being part of a cohesive team in the tennis centre.  Muhammad is a real family man, and loves spending time with his young children.

Customer Service Assistant: Dawn Zmija

Dawn has recently joined the Tennis centre team and is very much enjoying working within such a motivated team. She hopes to develop her own tennis playing skills in the near future. Dawn graduated with a BA in Fashion Design. Whilst studying she developed a love of yoga and has recently started working towards her British Wheel of Yoga Teacher Training Certificate. She is also a keen swimmer and enjoys walking her dog.

Customer Service Assistant: Stuart

Stuart started working at the Tennis Centre in July 2015, having spent many years employed in Human Relations. Stuart is both a keen football player and supporter, as well as being a keen walker. Stuart hopes to be able to be able to improve his tennis playing and his understanding of the sport so that he can better assist customers if necessary.
