Coaching

Loughborough University takes pride in developing its staff and students; and as such has a long history of training and mentoring student coaches who have gone onto successful careers in tennis, making a positive and significant impact to British Tennis and beyond.

As part of our coach pathway, we understand and value the importance of coaching; both in the impact to the participant(s) but also in the life skills and personal skills this develops in the coach themselves. As part of the tennis project, Loughborough Sport Tennis have a full time member of staff designated to student coach development, providing a coaching pathway to suits the needs and demands of the individual; from those looking to go onto full time careers in the sport all the way to those looking to enjoy coaching as a hobby and gain transferable skills for the future.

We have an abundance of coaching opportunities within the tennis programme including:

– Cardio tennis
– Performance tennis
– Community/club tennis
– Development tennis
– Recreational/beginner tennis
– Social tennis
– Mini tennis
– Disability tennis
– Schools tennis

Sports Science Support

Over the last decade, the research and integration of Sports Science Support into elite athlete programmes has rapidly developed and is now considered an integral part of elite athletes or team programmes. It is essential these programmes utilise Sports Science, Sports Medicine and Technology to improve the health, fitness, training, preparation – and ultimately the performance – of athletes.

Each of our pathways within Sports Science work in partnership with the national governing body and/or Loughborough University expertise, whilst fully integrating into the tennis programme providing practical hands on experience as well as training, mentoring and development via experienced professionals in the following strands:

– Sports Psychology
– Performance Analysis
– Strength & Conditioning
– Performance Lifestyle
