SQUAD ENTRY TIMES
1. ATHLETES ACHIEVING A STANDARD QUALIFYING TIMES
1.1. Students (Returners or Fresher’s) who achieve an A Standard qualifying time set out in Section 5 Table A and Table C for Para athletes will be prioritised when places are allocated.
2. ATHLETES ACHIEVING MINIMUM ENTRY TIMES
Where athletes have achieved a Minimum Entry Standard qualifying time set out in Section 5 Table A and Table C for Para athletes then available places will be prioritised in the following order:
2.2. Returning students who have trained in the programme for only one season
2.3. Returning students who have trained in the programme for more than one season
Full Time Athletes: The Lead Coach, in conjunction with the coaching staff, reserves the right to allocate programme places to full time swimmers if they have achieved a Consideration time set out in Section 5 Table B, or a Para Non-Student time set out in Section 5 Table C. (There are no guaranteed places and places are limited).
3.1 All returning athletes who wish to be considered MUST have demonstrated that they have met the programme commitment and athlete management requirements outlined in Section 4 throughout their time in the programme.
3.2 Returning placement year students must have demonstrated a commitment to both a training and racing programme during their placement year
3.3 All A standard, minimum and consideration times referred to in section 1 and 2 above are Long Course times achieved from the 1st January to 31st August in the year of admission. Selections are subject to available programme places and where necessary will be prioritised at the discretion of the Lead Coach in conjunction with the coaching staff.
4. GENERAL CONDITIONS
All swimmers will be expected to:
a. Make a full commitment to all aspects of the Loughborough Swimming Programme.
b. Make the correct athlete management choices i.e. Social, Nutrition, Injury-Prevention, Time Management and being coachable.
c. Fully support and contribute to the positive ethos of the Loughborough Swimming Programme.
d. Achieve attendance and performance targets (Pool and Land) agreed with the coaching staff.
e. Work in consultation with the coaching staff regarding their competition progamme. Selection for University at a BUCS competitions will take priority.
f. Swimmers in receipt of a University Scholarship must read, accept and meet the scholarship requirements.
Failure to meet any of the above may result in a swimmer being removed from the squad or asked to leave the programme.
The Lead Coach and Programme Manager reserves the right to allocate places in the programme to athletes that demonstrate the qualities needed to be a member of the Loughborough Swimming Programme.
