Loughborough Pool’s Learn to Swim Scheme follows the ASA National Learn to Swim programme; delivering the very highest standard of teaching and following an up to date syllabus with clearly defined progression levels. Children are encouraged to develop their skills and progress in stages whilst receiving continual assessment from their teacher. The lessons are structured into ability groups starting with Adult and Child and right through to Pre-Competition and Lifesaving.
The Learn to Swim Scheme is run on Saturday and Sunday mornings between 09:00 and 12:00. Most lessons last for half an hour and courses run in conjunction with school term dates. See below for more details about different children’s classes.
Those looking to involve their child/children for the first time should register their interest and add their details to the assessment waiting list by visiting pool reception or calling 01509 226200.
Prior to starting lessons for the first time, children will need to be assessed to ensure they are allocated the most suitable group based on their swimming ability. Assessment mornings will be held whenever adequate space in our swim school becomes available. We will then advertise an assessment date below and contact those on the waiting list to arrange a suitable time.
Information regarding price and dates of the upcoming classes can be found below.

What Classes Do We Run?
We run a range of classes designed to suit all ability levels. We aim to provide children with the opportunity to progress their swimming ability right the way through, from their first time in the water with a parent to competition-style swimming stroke development and lifesaving skills. The following is a rough guide to when we run different classes throughout the weekend mornings:
Parent and Child classes
Saturdays, 10:00-10:30 & 11:00-11:30
ASA stages 1-8 swimming lessons (coloured hat groups)
Saturdays & Sundays, throughout the mornings between 9am & 12pm in 30 minutes classes.
Saturdays, 08:45-09:30 & 11:30-12:15
Sundays, throughout the morning between 9am & 12pm in 20 or 30 minute classes depending on the child’s ability. These classes are in high demand and short supply. Bookings and payments will vary to other classes. Contact reception for further details.
*Please note that due to extremely limited availability and significant interest, we have stopped adding names to the 1-2-1 waiting list for the time being
Badges and certificates are awarded upon successful completion of each level and can be purchased from reception at a cost of £2.90 each.
New Swimming Lesson Structure
As many of those already attending our swim school will know, we have changed the way our swimming lessons run. We have upgraded our system to allow parents to have more involvement in following the progress of their child(ren).
Parents will be emailed login details that will gain them access to a home portal. Through this they can monitor their child’s progress weekly and be alerted when their child has achieved a badge and certificate that they can buy and collect at the reception.
Parents will also be made aware when their child is ready to move up to the next hat colour. They can see all available spaces for the new class and choose one to move into that works best for them.
Though our programme will still be running alongside school term dates, you are no longer paying termly. You will instead be paying for blocks of 10 lessons at a time and renewing these yourselves online once your portal is activated. If you do not remember to renew before the block has expired you cannot be guaranteed your previous class.
For any further details, please contact our team through email at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us on 01509 226200.
