Member of Staff
John Robins was a prop forward who was also a reliable place kicker. He trained as a teacher and represented Loughborough College at athletics and rugby.
John had an esteemed international career, gaining 11 caps for Wales in the fifties and played for the British Lions team on the 1950 tour. He was Assistant Manager and Coach on the 1966 Lions tour.
John worked in PE department at Loughborough from 1959-1968. He was also responsible for coaching the College’s rugby teams and advanced the notion of “getting fit to play rugby” rather than “playing rugby to get fit”.
John died in Cardiff on 21st February 2007.
