At just 22 years of age, Danny was the youngest member of the gold winning Modern Pentathlon team at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, and finished 10th in the individual competition. He represented Great Britain again in 1980 at the Moscow Olympics and was British Modern Pentathlon Champion in 1976, 1977, and 1978.

After successfully completing his studies at Loughborough in 1984 he served as the Development Officer for the Modern Pentathlon Association of Great Britain for four years, from1985-89.

In 1988, he coached the British Team to bronze medal success at the Seoul Olympics. Since 1990, he has been a PE teacher at Rye Hills School, Redcar, Cleveland.
