Staff Salary Paid Memberships

Loughborough University Staff have the option of joining either Holywell Fitness Centre, or Powerbase strength and conditioning facility. With either membership access to the swimming pool is also included, however we do also offer Swimming Pool only memberships.

Salary Sacrifice Scheme – Please note that this option is only available for sign up until 5 April 2017

The government have decided to remove the Income Tax and employer NICs advantages of salary sacrifice schemes from 6 April 2017. However those entered into the scheme on or before 5 April 2017 will continue to benefit from the scheme up until 6 April 2018.

Monthly – Swimming Continuous £20 a month (initial month will be pro rata and payment required via Cash/Card)
Annual – Swimming A year from date of purchase £170 a one off payment (payment will be deducted from the upcoming months salary payment)

Monthly salary sacrifice schemes can also be set up online. Please note that all Loughborough Staff members already have a profile on our leisure management system, therefore you will need your Member ID and PIN to log in. If you do not know your Member ID and PIN you can request yours here, or call the Sports reception on 01509 226 250. Upon arrival on your first visit you will also need to complete a salary sacrifice form and hand in at reception, forms can be printed from the following links; Salary sacrifice gym form and salary sacrifice swimming form.

Current Salary Sacrifice Members

Those currently in the salary sacrifice scheme will remain in the scheme until their last payment in March 2018. From April 2018 all salary sacrifice memberships will turn into salary deduction memberships, however staff members will be given the option to with drawer from the salary deduction membership prior to the transfer.

Annual paying Salary Sacrifice Members can put in a request now to add another year paid via salary salary sacrifice even though membership has not expired. Payment will be deducted from April’s salary. Please note that after the annual membership has expired the only salary deduction payment available is monthly. Annual payments can still still be made at reception via Cash or Card, or online.

Membership Terms

Monthly Memberships
  • Minimum term of monthly salary paid memberships is 3 months
  • One months notice is required to cancel membership to allow salary amendments to be completed by payroll
  • Once membership is cancelled, there will be a 6 month period before it can be restarted
Annual Memberships
  • Refunds can only be refunded via salary payments
  • One Year Membership refunds will be calculated at the £33 monthly rate. Therefore a refund would not be given after 10 months of membership
  • Two and Three Year Membership refunds will be calculated at the £325 annual rate. Therefore refunds will not be given after 1 year and 8 months for a 2 year membership and after 2 years and 6 months for a 3 year membership
  • Refunds will only be given if the staff member is no longer employed by the University or experiences long term illness or injury
  • Staff members leaving the University but still wish to continue with their paid membership, can do so up until their membership expires
