Coaches The CVA runs the SportMAD coaching programme as well as supporting a number of coaches operating across Loughborough Sport. This is in the form of funding for coaching qualifications, coaching development and access to further coaching opportunities. The coaches we support are:

  • Department Sport coaches
  • Society Sport coaches
  • Spirit of Rugby coaches
  • External coaches

Karen Whitaker (Coach Academy Coordinator)


Officials/Referees Gain industry recognised officiating qualifications and develop your officiating skills. We can help fund your qualification in return for experience officiating games in football, rugby and netball. Karen Whitaker (Coach Academy Coordinator)
Sports Committee Positions Loughborough Sport prides itself on being student run, student led. This is largely run by a number of different sports committees. Many of these committees are student elected so you may not find all of these on our opportunity search, but some of them will be advertised with us! The students we support in these positions are:

Sally Morrison (Volunteer Academy Assistant Coordinator)
Tennis Project As part of an exciting new tennis project there will be significant coaching and volunteering opportunities across all strands of the tennis programme. These opportunities mirror the CVA strands, in coaching, officiating, events, media & marketing and performance analysis. Helen Reesby (Tennis Programme Director)
My Lifestyle Activators & Rec Secs Activators and Rec Secs are the student coaches that run the weekly ‘turn up and play’ My Lifestyle sessions. The role consists of informal coaching, facilitating and activating sport whilst keeping the sessions recreational focused. Meg Tooth (My Lifestyle Assistant Coordinator)
Loughborough Sport Ambassadors Loughborough Sport Ambassadors represent the university at a number of high profile events, delivering outreach activities including: school visits, university open days, freshers events and conferences. The ambassadors are the ‘face of Loughborough Sport’ providing activities on campus and across the UK. Sam Walsh (Recruitment, Orientation & Outreach Coordinator)
Loughborough Sport Hall Coordinators Loughborough Sport Hall Coordinators have been implemented this year, involving as many halls as possible. They will help to communicate the sport offer outside of IMS to members of their Hall, including the AU, My Lifestyle and the CVA programmes.
