PGL The UK’s leading provider of residential activity holidays and study courses for young people has entered into an exciting new pilot partnership with Loughborough University to bring unique work placements and graduate roles to Loughborough students.
PGL currently operate out of 24 activity centres across the UK, France, Spain and Australia and in the next year will be adding at least two new centres to the list.
As a Loughborough student, you are being given the unique opportunity to undertake either your placement year in industry (with DPS) or your first graduate role with PGL as an Activity Instructor.
All applicants will be given an interview here at Loughborough on 11th May 2017.
PGL describe being an Outdoor Activity Instructor as” a fantastic chance to share your love of sports and the outdoors, to discover new things to love, to learn new skills, and to enjoy an experience which will enrich your life forever. Loughborough University students are our ideal candidates, coming to us with entrepreneurial skills, drive, teamwork ethic and resilience. Let us enhance your employability skills in a meaningful, challenging and fun work environment”
Our Activity Instructors are the all-action superheroes to our young guests, the pillars of trust for our party leaders and parents, and the face of PGL. As a Loughborough University student who enjoys being active, has a passion for sport and is able to provide excellent instruction, leadership, support and encouragement to a group of young guests, you’ll be an ideal candidate to join the PGL team. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone looking for a career working with young people or the youth sector, in education, the outdoors or in sports coaching.
You’ll be leading activities, organising entertainment, and making sure your group has a great stay with us. You might be helping kids overcome their fears on the zip wire in the morning, guiding them to solve initiative puzzles in the afternoon, and then canoeing in the evening. It is a million miles away from the suited and booted 9 to 5. It’s exciting. It’s rewarding. It’s life changing. It’s fun. However, it’s also challenging, it’s a position of responsibility, it’s sometimes tiring, and it can be hectic. But the reason that the Activity Instructor role is the most popular with PGL – it’s worth it!
Many PGL staff go on to build successful careers with us or build on their experience with us to take opportunities in the outdoors, in teaching, or in sports, and have been very successful in doing so. We are proud to be an essential part of this and while we invest in our staff, supporting them as they become more experienced and qualified, we also recognise their hard work when they move on from PGL and seek other opportunities.
