Lightning Rugby look to close the gap on a top four spot

Lightning Rugby will be looking to put in a strong performance against Bristol Ladies this Saturday as last week’s game as postponed due to the beast from the east.

Lighting will look to carry on where they left off, having clinched victory over DMP Sharks two weeks ago at home in a physical battle that tested the Lightning defence.

When Lightning last met Bristol Ladies they managed to claim their first away victory of the season in a closely fought game. Bristol currently sits one place below Lightning in 6th and with the battle for 4th place hotting up both teams will we gunning for a big win, looking to take maximum points. Just three rounds remain before the top four team head into playoffs, looking to claim the  title of the first ever Tyrells premier 15’s Champions.

Looked ahead to the game this weekend Head Coach Rhys Edwards said:

“As a squad we are looking forward getting back out and playing our final home game of the regular season. Its always nice to play at home be able to play the high tempo game that we like to play in front of a good crowd. Bristol as always will be a tough opposition, and that showed last time we played them in Cleve. The weather wasn’t great, but we both managed to play some exciting stuff, which I’m anticipating again. Its important that we don’t allowed Bristol to get any momentum and we control the game early.  We are confident that if we do this we will be able to keep ourselves in the hunt for a playoff spot.”

The game takes place at Loughborough University at 3pm on Saturday 10th March.
