Sky Sports is set to broadcast its biggest ever summer of women’s cricket, as part of a huge line-up of women’s sport in 2018.
For the first time, Sky Sports will show 12 matches from the Kia Super League – nearly double the amount from last year – with three of those games featuring Loughborough Lightning.
With Lightning Cricket receiving huge home support in their first two seasons in the KSL, 2018 is set to be no different; however fans will now be able to see two of their away games live on Sky Sports. Furthermore, the Loughborough University based side will see one of their home games take place at Edgbaston to allow for Sky Sport coverage.
Viewing figures for women’s sport reached a record high for Sky Sports in 2017, which saw more people tune in to watch women’s cricket, netball, rugby and golf than ever before. Lightning Netball are a mainstay on across their platforms, with Lightning’s second home game of the 2018 Vitality Netball Superleague season, a crunch match against Manchester Thunder, live on Sky Sports Action on Monday 26th February.
Lightning Rugby, in their inaugural season in the Tyrell’s Premier 15s, have also featured as part of Sky’s highlights packages of the competition, whilst a number of Lightning’s international stars will feature in their Six Nations coverage commencing on 4 February.
