Lightning look to build on strong performance against Richmond

Loughborough Lightning Rugby are eager to build upon their strong performance against Richmond last week as they head south this Saturday to face Bristol Ladies FC in a 7pm kick off.After last week’s win over London based Richmond, Lightning looked to have their mojo back playing exciting, physical rugby that would challenge any team in the league. The win will boost their confidence going into this Saturday’s game as they looking to build upon their performance against a strong and experienced Bristol team. Lightning’s young talent Emma Hardy has also been given a place in the starting line-up after a magnificent line break try in the final play of the game.

Bristol currently sits one place below Lightning with one try bonus point separating the two teams. After a winning start to the season Bristol had a change of luck following three tough weeks against the league’s top teams and will be looking to get back to winning ways with the support of the home crowd.

Absent last week due to international duties, Jenny Maxwell, Sarah Bonar and Mags Lowish, return to the Lightning side after a greatly successful friendly international game for Scotland against Spain.

Head Coach Rhys Edwards looks ahead to tomorrow’s match;

“Having finished strongly against Richmond by getting the bonus point try, it’s important that we start the game against Bristol with the same attacking mentality. The squad is starting to settle and there is some real competition for places in the starting team, which is great.  Selections are starting to become difficult.

It’s great to have the Scottish internationals back after playing against Spain last weekend.”

The game takes place on the Cleve FC at 7pm on Saturday 12th November.
