Loughborough Sport are pleased to announce that Brett Holland has been appointed as the new Women’s Hockey Head Coach for the 2017/18 season.
Following on from the great work done by James Ross over the past four seasons, Holland takes the helm with the women’s programme in a great position. Third in the Investec Conference North and runners-up in the BUCS Championship last season, Holland will be hoping to build on that success in the forthcoming season.
Formerly Hockey Coordinator, Holland already has a brilliant working knowledge of the Loughborough Hockey programme, players and support staff, and so will hit the ground running when pre-season gets underway next week.
Of his appointment Performance Director Richard Wheater said:
“We are pleased to welcome Brett into his new role as Women’s Head Coach for the 2017/18 season and I am looking forward to working with him to continue to shape and develop women’s hockey at Loughborough University.
“Brett has made a positive impact with our second team over the past season and I look forward to seeing the performance squad progress in both the National League and BUCS competitions. Brett comes with a variety of hockey coaching experiences, including various roles with England Hockey, and will be a strong addition to our performance sport coaching team.”
“Loughborough has an unrivalled history at creating international hockey players and I find the programme in the best position it’s ever been. The team behind the team are growing and hitting new levels of collaboration, all in the pursuit of developing a lifetime of success for our athletes. There is a fantastic atmosphere here and we look forward to welcoming new players to the club this year to join the journey. We are at a really exciting phase and I am very much looking forward to getting started to taking the programme on even further.”
