Loughborough Sport has today confirmed that Alan Buzza will take on the role of Director of Rugby, which will be vacated by Dave Morris in the coming weeks.
Buzza, who steps into the role on an interim basis whilst also continuing his role as Head of Performance Programmes, has 30 years of experience in the senior game. Most recently Buzza was Director of Rugby from 2001 to 2009, prior to his current role.
Buzza has a strong playing background, playing for Wasps, touring Canada with England in 1993, and making several England A and England 7s appearances. He is also a winning Cambridge captain and a double blue in rugby and cricket. His coaching background includes two spells with Loughborough Students and coaching Rotherham in the Championship.
On his appointment the Loughborough University graduate said:
It’s a phenomenally exciting time to be stepping into the role. With the launch of Loughborough Lightning our top flight women’s team, exciting developments in the men’s programme and the alignment of the club top to bottom, there is a lot happening. We will miss Dave hugely but the various changes occurring mean that my long experience of the club sets me up well to keep the ship steady as we enter a whole new era.
