Loughborough Students’ Badminton took four BUCS Nationals titles this weekend and the largest ever medal haul by one University in BUCS history.
Following a strong showing last year, the team were looking to replicate the successes with top seedings in all five of the events.
The Women’s Singles, Mixed and Women’s Doubles finals were all-Loughborough affairs. Loughborough Sport National Badminton League player, Chloe Birch beat Tanapat Pisitpong in straight sets to take home the Women’s Singles title. Birch then returned alongside partner Kerri Scott to take home a Silver medal in a close Women’s Doubles as Jenny Moore and Viki Williams brought Gold medals back to Loughborough.
Moore then teamed up with Greg Mairs to beat Williams and her Mixed Doubles partner Conor Bambrick.

Mairs and Bambrick then combined to win the Men’s Doubles title, before Alex Marritt lost out in a final set thriller to take a Silver medal and complete the largest ever medal haul by one University in BUCS history.
