Last weekend LSMC ran their annual Fresher Day trip to introduce and develop members new and old of the club to a weekend full of all sorts of climbing!
Saturday 17th a large group of people headed to Birchen in Baslow and on Sunday 18th October, a number of cars drove up to Masson Lees near Matlock, both days there were routes for all the inexperience climbers to try, and returners getting the opportunity to do a number of good lead routes depending on their strengths.
The weekend gave all the members to be involved, for all those new to the world of climbing, they learnt how to tie in with a number of knots and learning how to belay other people. This gave the returners a opportunity to teach the potential climbers.
Overall both days were a huge success, it was a good insight to the world of climbing especially for the new members and it also allowed the committee and the rest of the club to get to know everyone who has joined this year.
Next up for LSMC is the upcoming roped skills course on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October run by Pure Outdoor. A great course which is subsidised by club to learn the fundamentals of rock climbing, its a great beginner to rock climbing and also those more experienced climbers, learning anchors and all sorts.
