Marrs Get’s IAAF Invite to World Indoors after Trials Victory

Megan Marrs’ great performance, in taking at the British Indoor championships has been rewarded with an invite from the IAAF to compete in the World Indoor championships in Birmingham next month.

Second year scholar Marrs, made the most of dispensation to miss the BUCS Indoor championships, by claiming the British 60H title in yet another personal best 8.16, her sixth improvement of what has been a superb indoor campaign for her.

Initially however, the Jerzy Maciukiewicz coached athlete seemed to have missed out, as despite winning the trials, she was a tantalizing 2/100th away from the 8.14 standard, which as trials victor would have automatically given her selection.

However, she then benefited as did a number of other British athletes from an Invite from the IAAF, the World governing body and was added to the 31 strong GB team, where she will join fellow current student Morgan Lake HJ and past scholars Jake Wightman 1500m and Robbie Grabarz HJ in the line up, whilst Amy Allocock and Meghan Beesley are selected in the Women’s 4x400m squad.
