From BUCS B Race to Univeriade Bronze

Jess Judd capped a excellent 2017 season, her final year as a Loughborough undergraduate, with a Bronze medal in the World Universiade 5000m in Chinese Taipei.

Ironically Judd had earlier in the season been forced to run (and win) the 5000m B race in the BUCS outdoor championships, as she had not previously run the distance on the track, but here she proved her undoubted talent, with further tangible reward for an impressive year, having already represented Great Britain & N Ireland over 1500m in the London World Championships where she reached the semi final as well as winning the English National Cross County championships in February.

Judd had a close race with Canadian Marie O’Connell for the silver medal before being edged into third place 15.50.91 to 15.51.19 as victory went to the German Hannah Klein in 15.45.28

There were also creditable performances by Loughborough graduate Jess Turner who came 5th in the 400m hurdles and College based Samuel Osewa who missed out on a place in the men’s 100m final by one spot as he placed 5th in his semi final.
