Five European Cross Country Medals for LSAC students in Samorin

One individual Bronze medal, three team Golds, and one team Bronze medal was the truly remarkable medal haul for the five Loughborough student athletes representing Great Britain at the European Cross-Country Championships in Slovakia yesterday.

• A superb individual BRONZE MEDAL for JESSICA JUDD (Under 23 Women) was the top Loughborough performance, this leading the Great Britain u23 team to the TEAM GOLDS with a narrow victory, with 12 pts, over Germany 15, and Turkey 46.

• Brilliantly backing up Jess in the Women’s Under 23’s event, was AMY GRIIFITHS (5th), the 3rd British scorer, just 17 seconds further back and thus a major contributor to the TEAM GOLD success, while CARI HUGHES also sparkled (9th place) in contributing to TEAM GOLD as 2nd British finisher in the Under 20’s Championship (GB 21pts, Italy 33 and Spain 47).

On the men’s side too, there were impressive runs – from Loughborough pair:
• UK Senior 1500m Championships finalist PATRICK DEVER (16th) as 3rd British scorer in the Under 23’s TEAM BRONZE performance behind France and Belgium; and …..
• Triathlon star BEN DIJKSTRA (17th) as 2nd GB scorer in the Under 20’s for 6th team place behind Spain, France, Turkey, Belgium and Norway.
