AU Colours

Nominations are received by the AU Executive, which then meets to discuss the applications and to make the final decisions. The award winners are announced at the annual AU Colours Evening. Nominations can be made for the following 3 categories:

A Full Colour shall only be awarded to club members who during the academic year, have gained Full, Under 21 or Under 19 International Representation, BUCS British Students Representation or the equivalent highest student level, whilst representing the club at the highest level (i.e. first team) and been shown to notably contribute towards the Club’s sporting success.

For Club Members who have gained national student representation, BUCS Home Nations Representation, i.e. English Universities or the equivalent highest student level.

In the case of sports that do not have a BUCS squad, then a top 3 place in a national individual competition (student or non-student competitions that are accredited by the sport’s Governing Body) can be awarded by a Half Colour at the discretion of the Colours Committee.

A Half Colour may be awarded to individuals for gaining a high level of achievement within the National Governing Bodies Coaching or Officiating structure.

A Club Colour may be awarded to any club member for whom it can be shown that they have provided outstanding service, achievement and/or commitment to the club. These Colours may be awarded for individuals representing the club either on the field or in an administrative or coaching role. The Club Committee may deem winning a BUCS Gold Medal a suitable achievement for consideration.

Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year will be awarded annually to a member of the Loughborough Athletic Union in recognition of individual sporting achievement in domestic, national or international competition.
